I was given Zovirax 5% cream by the package insert as an eye drop for my cold sore. The instructions stated I apply it five times daily for four days, preferably at the same time each day. As the cold sore is more common it took much longer for me to get a cold sore. I used to have a cold sore five times a day for 4 days straight, which is longer than the instructions stated on the tube. I started to feel better in about 3 days after I took the cream. I now have a cold sore five times a day, however I would like to take it five times a day to see the full effect.

Keep using Zovirax Cold Sore Cream as long as it is recommended for the time being. If your symptoms do not improve after three or more days using the treatment, you may need to use another treatment.
This treatment is designed for early healing of cold sores, and may not work for a longer period.
